Pakistan’s international cricket home season gets underway this week, with Sri Lanka touring for a three-match T20I series at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on October 9, 11 and 13. The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced ticket prices and sale dates for the series, while the Rawalpindi administration says arrangements — including a 1,500-strong additional police deployment — are finalised for the matches.

Ticket prices and sale dates

The PCB announced on October 1 that online tickets went on sale on October 3 at 3pm through pcb.tcs.com.pk, with physical tickets available at TCS Express Centres in Rawalpindi from October 5. General-enclosure tickets cost Rs 300 for the first two T20Is and Rs 200 for the third, keeping entry accessible for most fans.

First-class tickets are priced at Rs 500 for the first two matches and Rs 400 for the third, premium at Rs 700 and Rs 600, and VIP at Rs 1,000 and Rs 800. PCB Gallery seats cost Rs 1,500 for the first two T20Is and Rs 1,200 for the third. Hospitality options run higher: the Azhar Mahmood Box is priced at Rs 15,000 for the first two matches and Rs 12,000 for the third, while Platinum Box seats top the chart at Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000.

A security lockdown in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani chaired a meeting this week at which the district administration and police finalised arrangements for the Pakistan–Sri Lanka T20 series and the tri-nation ODI series, including practice matches, running from October 4 to November 13. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host seven matches in that window.

More than 1,500 additional police personnel — drawn from the Special Protection Unit and Elite Force teams, along with 50 snipers from other districts — have been placed at the disposal of the city police chief after a request to the Inspector General of Punjab. Walk-through gates and CCTV cameras are installed at the stadium, a Nadra verification counter has been set up at the entry gate, and 200 additional surveillance cameras have been deployed along the routes.

The food street on Double Road adjacent to the stadium has been closed from October 3 as a security measure, with traffic police publishing alternative routes. A 30-bed emergency field hospital has been set up at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute, and shuttle services will carry spectators from parking areas at Rawal Park and Satellite Town College to the stadium entrance.

“The visiting players would help project a positive image of Pakistan at the international level,” the commissioner said at the meeting, urging the public to cooperate with law-enforcement agencies during the matches.

Why it matters

A smooth, well-attended home season is central to Pakistan’s push to keep international cricket on home soil. Full houses at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium — and visible, orderly security — send the strongest possible signal to other touring sides, and the Rs 200 starting ticket price keeps the matches within reach of ordinary fans.

What’s next

The calendar only gets busier from here. After the T20Is, Pakistan hosts Sri Lanka and England in an ODI tri-series from October 18 to 31 across Rawalpindi and Lahore, with online ticket sales starting October 10. A two-match Test series against Sri Lanka follows from November 9 to 21 in Rawalpindi and Lahore.
