Key takeaways: Petrol falls Rs3.40 to Rs374.51 per litre and diesel falls Rs7.76 to Rs395.20 from 3 November. The cut follows lower global oil prices, with diesel users in transport and farming seeing the larger saving.

Pakistan has cut fuel prices from Tuesday, 3 November 2026, giving motorists and transport operators a modest reduction at the pump. Petrol falls by Rs3.40 per litre to Rs374.51, down from Rs377.91, while high-speed diesel falls by Rs7.76 to Rs395.20, down from Rs402.96.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) announced the revised rates on Monday, 2 November. State-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported that the new prices take effect from 3 November and were set under the federal government’s petroleum products pricing mechanism. The regulator said the adjustment reflected changes in international prices, premiums and related costs.
What changed
The diesel cut is more than twice the petrol cut in rupee terms, and it reverses part of a recent increase. On Friday, diesel had risen by Rs2.29 per litre to Rs402.96, while petrol had stayed unchanged at Rs377.91. Tuesday’s revision therefore leaves diesel below its level before that Friday increase, while petrol moves to a new lower level.
In percentage terms, petrol is down by about 0.9 percent and diesel by about 1.9 percent from their previous rates. For a driver buying 40 litres, the petrol saving is Rs136 compared with the old price, while the same volume of diesel costs Rs310.40 less. Those figures are simple arithmetic from the notified rates, not a separate official estimate.
The timing reflects a fall in global crude prices on Monday. Arab News, citing market data, reported that Brent crude fell by $3.68, or 3.2 percent, to $109.75 a barrel by Monday morning Saudi time, while US West Texas Intermediate fell by $3.43, or 3.3 percent, to $100.69. The report linked the pullback to hopes of diplomatic progress in Doha talks involving Iranian negotiators and Qatari mediators.
Why it matters
Fuel prices reach well beyond the filling station. Petrol is widely used in motorcycles and private cars in Pakistan, while diesel powers trucks, buses and agricultural machinery. A larger diesel cut can therefore ease pressure on freight costs and farm operations, even if the immediate saving for an individual motorist is small.
That effect is limited by the scale of the change. A Rs3.40 petrol reduction will not transform household budgets on its own, and a Rs7.76 diesel reduction will not by itself reverse broader transport or food costs. The value of the cut lies mainly in direction: after a period of volatility, the latest revision moves pump prices down rather than up.
What happens next
The next test is how long the lower rates last. Pakistan now reviews petroleum prices daily, replacing an earlier weekly system, so the rates announced for 3 November can change with the next notification. Drivers should therefore treat Tuesday’s prices as the current rates, not as a fixed price for the month.
A dispute over how the saving is funded also remains unresolved. Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said on 2 November that refineries had agreed to absorb an estimated Rs15 billion in monthly costs to prevent a Rs15 per litre increase in petrol prices, according to Nukta. Four refineries wrote to the minister the same day protesting the revised pricing mechanism and warning that it imposed a burden of Rs49.02 per litre on locally produced petrol, Nukta reported. They asked for the mechanism to be withdrawn.
That disagreement does not change Tuesday’s prices, but it is worth watching. If the funding arrangement changes, or crude prices rebound, the next revision could move the other way. For now, petrol is Rs374.51 per litre and diesel is Rs395.20, effective 3 November.
