Pakistan to grant consular access to detained Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav. Pakistan’s foreign office says that this is in accordance with local laws and international agreements. Jhadavwas arrested on March 3, 2016, from Balochistan. After he entered Pakistan from Iran. He was tried in a military court which sentenced him to death for espionage and subversive activities. Moreover, Pakistan foreign office spokesman, Dr Mohammad Faisal says that Jadhav is in Pakistan’s custody, for espionage, terrorism, and sabotage.
He also tweeted that Consular access for Indian spy Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav is being provided on Monday 2 September 2019. And it is in line with Vienna Convention on Consular relations, ICJ judgment & the laws of Pakistan. Furthermore, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says that Pakistan obligated to the ICJ decisions. Therefore, Pakitan is providing consular access to Jadhav.
The ICJ had allowed India consular access to Jadhav and asked Pakistan to review and reconsider his conviction and sentence. But on August 3, 2019, India had rejected Pakistan’s offer of consular access to Jadhav. Rather asked for unimpeded access to him.
