Hafiz Muhammad Saad Rizvi, head of the banned TLP, has been released

Hafiz Muhammad Saad Rizvi, head of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), has been released after the government concluded successful rounds of negotiation with his party members earlier today.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed announced in the wee hours of Tuesday that after a successful round of negotiations, the now proscribed Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) has agreed to end its protest across the country after the government agreed to table a resolution regarding the expulsion of the French ambassador in the National Assembly today.

Rizvi’s arrest in Lahore last week caused countrywide unrest with TLP workers taking to the streets in protest.
