The former and current Federal Ministers for Science and Technology have issued contradictory statements about the quality of locally manufactured ventilators.

“There are sixteen functions in the ventilators but the ventilators being made at the local level have only four,” he stated after paying a visit to the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad on Monday.

However, the former Minister for Science and Technology who is also the current Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Chaudhry, remarked that Shibli Faraz may not have received a presentation on the efficiency of the locally manufactured ventilators, which is why he is unaware of their utility and added that he needs to take a briefing from the manufacturing companies.

Minister Fawad Chaudhry also said that if there had been a shortage of ventilators, the situation in Pakistan would not have been under control today.

The current minister, Senator Shibli Faraz, had declared that the locally manufactured ventilators are malfunctioning and are just able to perform four out of sixteen functions.
